Week Five

Hello, this is Ryan and I will be updating you on week five.

This monday was our supposed "stop build day" and afterwords we would use the two weeks till the actual stop build day to refine, tweak, and practice with our robot so we can be the best that we can be in the Utah competition. So unfortunately we were not able to finnish up a robot that we see fit to compete. As you know we are using the WCD for our frame, but we wanted some way to make it lighter so me and some other students spend hours over the drill press drilling 1" holes into the frame this makes it about 70g lighter then without the holes. We were able to create the drive train for our comp bot (name pending), and I installed some cam's onto the frame to be able to adjust the chain after it will loosen through all the erratic driving George does. The shooter is also built and now we are just trying to find ways to mount it to the robot and weather we want it to be adjustable so we can shoot from multiple angles or stationary so we know where each shot will be fired without trying to adjust ourselves.

We split up into two groups, the rookies and the veterans, with the final exam practical. Each group will have to create a working robot by Feb 17, we will both be scored depending on how well our robots preform. We get extra points for doing things like CADing our robot design and putting LED's on the frame. Whichever team scores the most points wins! The rookies of course have lenience and are not scored as harshly as the veterans. Hopefully we can finnish both of our robots before the stop build day which will be 7 Days 11 Hours 57 Minutes and 34 Seconds from when this is posted
